River Rerun: 7 killed As Army Nabs SSG, Wike’s Aide With Fake Military Uniforms, Cash

BALTIMORE, MD (AFRICAN EXAMINER) – About 7 people were said to have been killed on Saturday during the National and State legislative re-run elections in Rivers State even as soldiers arrested and paraded top aides to Governor Wike over electoral offences.
Our correspondent said the deaths occurred at Abalama in Asari Toru Local Government Area,Eleme in Eleme LGA, Nonwa in Tai LGA and Ogboloko in Abua/Odual LGA.
Four people were killed at Eleme and one each in Tai and Ogboloko.
On the other hand, those arrested by soldiers were Cyril Dum Wite, the Special Adviser on Special projects to Governor Nyesom Wike, and the secretary to the state government (SSG) Mr. Kenneth Kobani as well as eight others for allegedly possessing fake Army uniforms and undisclosed huge amount of money in Khana council area of the state.
The governor’s aide, was paraded by the security operatives alongside 8 of his accomplices.
The Public Relations Officer of the State Police Command, DSP Ahmad Muhammad said the suspects committed election-related offences and are being interrogated while investigation has commenced on the offences committed.
Meanwhile, the state governor, Wike and his party, PDP have condemned the arrest, calling on their immediate release.
