Rivers Killing: Police Declare 8 Suspects Wanted

RIVERS, NIGERIA (AFRICAN EXAMINER) – The Rivers State Police Command has declared eight suspects wanted in connection with 14 people killed in the Mgbuoshimini community, in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state.
The State Police said Wednesday that the suspects were declared wanted in connection with the killing of Chief Minikwu Chukwu and Cletus Barigbinee.
According to the state Police Public Relations Officer PPRO, Mr. Nnamdi Omoni, the suspects were identified as: Daddy Chukwu (27), Alhaji Otums Monday (23) and Nyeson Nwodinka (19), Orji Amadi (25), David Chibula Orji (22), Veejee Orji (19) and Junior Amadi (19).
The State Police image maker indicated that investigations carried out revealed that the suspects were involved in the killings which occurred early hours of Monday.
Rivers State Police Command alleged that the wanted suspects were members of a notorious criminal gang responsible for several killings and other cult-related activities at Mgbuoshimini community.
As part of measures to track the suspects, Mr. Omoni pointed out that the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ahmed Zaki, had ordered two gunboats to begin a 24-hour patrol of the waterways in the area.
It would be recalled that some gunmen on Monday stormed a market in the community and killed some persons. The reason for the bloody attack is yet to be ascertained.
