Rivers Groups, APC, Others Hail Amaechi’s Nomination As Minister

BALTIMORE, MD (AFRICAN EXAMINER) – The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers state as well as a cross section of groups in the state have hailed President Mohammadu Buhari for nominating the former governor of the state, Chibuike Amaechi as minister.

The groups in separate statements made available to newsmen on Tuesday said they are confident that Amaechi, being an achiever, performer would make a great contributions to the president’s change cabinet.

Rivers APC

On its own part, Rivers APC said: “With the listing, today of Rt. Hon. Amaechi as a ministerial nominee despite all the manipulations, witch-hunting and other evil plots by Chief Nyesom Wike and his cohorts, we are elated that, once more, good has prevailed over evil, God over devil, Amaechi over wicked Wike, light over darkness, patriotism over nepotism.

“By this singular act, President Muhammadu Buhari has not only given us the best 55th independence anniversary gift but has also liberated Rivers State from the shackles of a despotic and demonic clique that thought that by propaganda that they could rewrite the history of Rivers State and run down a man whose love for the development and emancipation of Rivers State and Nigeria is infectious.

“President Buhari has proven that he is not only a man of honour, integrity and principle but also a man who cherishes and promotes friendship and patriotism. We are proud that Buhari did not allow the propaganda by Wike and his cohorts to sway him from the fact that Amaechi is a man that he can trust any day and anytime.

“We thank General Olusegun Obasanjo, Bola Tinubu, General TY Danjuma and all the great minds that ensured that the plots of evil men never prevailed in the appointment of Amaechi as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as his non-appointment would have discouraged most Nigerians from working hard to unseat non-performing government headed by their kinsman,”

“Wike, the Caretaker Governor of Rivers State, was so sure that Amaechi would not be so appointed when he boasted to his inner caucus that based on his groundwork Amaechi would never be on the ministerial list. So sure was Wike that he vowed that if for any reason Amaechi was appointed a minister he (Wike) would commit suicide. We expect him to act according to his vow but before he commits suicide let him first refund all the Rivers State billions of naira wasted in the persecution of a man who brought him into political limelight and whom he is hounding for no sane reason.”

The Patriots Alliance

The Patriots Alliance in a statement signed by its spokesperson Solomon Okocha said:

“It did not come to us as a surprise that former Governor of Rivers State, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, will make the list considering his visionary track record and legacies bequeathed to Rivers people.

“It is our believe that the Senate will screen and pass these nominees expeditiously, notwithstanding the acrimonious clamours by some mischievous elements, as the nation is already set on the path of national development in line with President Mohammadu Buhari’s clear and purposeful agenda for Nigeria.”

Rivers Progressives Front

While Rivers Progressives Front in its own statement by its administrator Sotonye Ijuye-Dagogo said:

“The nomination of former Governor Amaechi among other tested Progressive leaders, is an eloquent statement by Mr. President that the change that Nigerians voted for has come to stay. It is a bold and unmistakable statement that Mr. President is very clear about his mission to reposition our great country, Nigeria. It is a statement that puts to shame professional blackmailers and smear campaigners.

“The Rivers Progressives Front hereby wholly endorse and express total support for Rt Hon Rotimi Amaechi, the Lion of Niger Delta politics and a leader of the commonsense revolution.

“We urge the Senate of the Federal Republic to accordingly approve the nomination of this rare gem of our time who as Governor of Rivers State engraved his name among the best governors that Nigeria has and will ever produce. The Senate is called upon to put Nigeria first in this assignment.

“We congratulate the Rt. Honourable and pray that God gives him the grace to add invaluable contributions to the CHANGE agenda of our dear President.”

Banise Pa Toruku Mu Ogbo of Bonny

The Ibanise pa toruku mu Ogbo of Bonny in Rivers state congratulated Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi (The Lion of the Niger Delta), and expressed their profound gratitude to President Muhammadu Buhari for appointing Amaechi as Minister.

A statement issued by the group leaders, Chief Haniel T. Pepple and George F. Tolofarib reads:

“We thank you immensely for the belief, trust and confidence you have in him. Kindly be assured that he will bring a high sense of accountability, good morale judgement and integrity to bear in your effort to bring change to Nigeria.

“We also call on the National Assembly (Senate) to do the needful and confirm Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi and indeed all other nominees so that they can start the good work to bring the desired change we all yearn for.

Wakirike Progressives Forum

The Wakirike Progressives Forum hails President Mohammadu Buhari for affirming his confidence on Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi by appointing him as a minister in his change cabinet.

A statement signed by Dame (Hon) Maureen Tamuno and Mrs Ibim Seminitari on behalf of the group reads:

“This singular act has demonstrated President Buhari’s ingenuity for the well-being and development of our dear state, Rivers and the Niger Delta region. This is incumbent on the fact that Rotimi Amaechi, a performer, an achiever, an astute and detribalized leader is being appointed from the state to bring to bear his wealth of experience for the good of all.

“We therefore urge our dear senators of the red chamber in the national assembly to further affirm this confidence by confirming this icon of hope, impeccable character, and a dignified and courageous leader of our time, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi who has been widely celebrated as the new face of Nigerian democracy. We also call on the senate not to be prejudiced by self-seeking and serving sentiments from any quarter as they set out to perform their constitutional duty of screening ministerial nominees.
