Rivers Election Tribunal: Hon. Uchendu Wins First Round Over Sen. Sekibo
Latest Headlines, National News, News, Politics Friday, June 26th, 2015Hon. Andrew Uchendu, the All Progressives Congress. APC, candidate at the March 28 National Assembly election for the Rivers East Senatorial District, has scored the first win over Sen. George Sekibo.
The Election Petition Tribunal Holden in the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Jabi, Abuja earlier Friday granted all the prayers made by Hon. Uchendu as contained in an Ex Parte Motion moved by B.E.I Nwofor SAN.
Nwofor argued that the Ex Parte Motion was for the purpose of speedy and just determination of the petition for both Applicants/Litigants and Respondents.
According to Nwofor, “We urge the Court to grant the Application to enable them serve INEC (Independent National Electoral Commission) and inspect all election materials”, the Petitioner’s Lead Counsel argues.In a brief ruling by the Chairman, Hon. Justice Ibrahim Jauro, the Tribunal granted the prayers as made in Paragraphs 1-6 of the Motion paper.
Tribunal had before the Ex Parte hearing held its inaugural sitting at which parties involved were exhorted on the need for speedy trial.
Other National Assembly matters were also heard by the Tribunal.
