Rio 2016: Authorities Stop 2 US Swimmers From Traveling Over Robbery
Featured, Latest Headlines, Sports News Thursday, August 18th, 2016BALTIMORE, MD (AFRICAN EXAMINER) – Two US swimmers Gunnar Bentz and Jack Conger have been stopped by the Brazilian authorities from boarding a US flight at Rio de Janeiro airport over alleged robbery.
US Olympic Committee indicated that the two men were prevented from boarding a US- bound plane, for questioning late Wednesday. However, the two men were released hours later.
They “were released by local authorities with the understanding that they would continue their discussions about the incident on Thursday”.
Already, Police have queried their accounts of a robbery which was reported in Rio on Sunday.
Ironically, Lochte is one of the most successful swimmers in history, with 12 Olympic medals, while he once produced a reality television show in the US.
In Rio, the medal winning athlete swam in two events, winning gold in the 4x200m freestyle relay.
