Ribadu Dumps APC, Joins PDP To Contest Adamawa Guber Poll
Featured, Latest Headlines, News Sunday, August 17th, 2014Former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, has formally joined the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) in Adamawa State after dumping the party which offered him a Presidential ticket in 2011.
Ribadu’s membership of PDP was confirmed today amid reports that he had formally registered in his ward as a member in Yola.
The resolve by Ribadu to join the PDP has however put paid to days of speculations that about his intention to run for the governorship election in Adamawa state on the platform of the PDP.
The removal of the governorship election in Adamawa state has necessitated, a bye election to be held in the state, whereas he is to contend in the race with the Acting Governor of the state, Fintiri who has already picked a nomination form
Most members of APC had expressed surprise on the action by Ribadu as they concluded that the he has devalued the moral fiber in him by joining the party he has been so critical of.
The governor of Kano State, Rabiu Musa Kwankwso in a recent chat with newsmen in Kano berated Ribadu for his resolve to join the PDP, contending that events would make hin regret his action soon.
President Goodluck Jonathan, Newspot Nigeria, learnt was aware of moves by Ribadu to join his party, as the process of his joining, as disclosed was facilitated by Alhaji Hassan Tukur who is considered to be one of his closest friends
Ribadu is expected to declare his intentions to run for the position of governor in the 11 October bye-election in the state.
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, had released time table for the election to replace impeached governor Murtala Nyako. Nyako was impeached by the State Assembly last month.
