Retired Army General, Okoloagu, Joins Enugu Senatorial Race

A member of the All Progressive Congress APC, Board of Trustee (BOT) and retired Army General, Josef Okoloagu, has picked the party’s nomination form for the Enugu North Senatorial district race in 2015.

The vocal General, who was accompanied by scores of his supporters to the Enugu state secretariat of the APC where he picked the N 3.3 million expression of interest form Wednesday, vowed to protect his votes during the election.

He stated his decision to join the contest once again after his first attempt in 2007, was informed by the alleged poor representation of the zone, by the incumbent and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Senator, Chief Ayogu Eze.

While warning against all manner of electoral fraud or manipulation by the ruling PDP during the general election, Okoloagu, said 2015, would not be business as usual.

According to him, “I am in the race again, because change is imminent in Enugu North senatorial district, in 2015″

The time he said, has come for the Igbo people to rise up and say no to imposition of political leaders which he added was responsible for the alarming rate of underdevelopment in the land, especially Enugu state.

He therefore, urged the Igbo nation to embrace the APC wind of change currently blowing across Nigeria, adding that it was the only political platform that could take Igbos to the promise land.

Presenting the nomination forms to the Senatorial hopeful, Enugu state Chairman of APC, Dr. Ben Nwoye, assured all aspirants of a level playing ground.

The Chairman, reiterated APC’s readiness in mobilizing forces against rigging during the forthcoming elections, stressing “we are prepared to wrestle power from the PDP in the state, come 2015 in a free and fair contest”

He also urged the APC aspirants to endeavour to play the game according to the rules, when it is time to commence campaigns, as he restated the APC, remained a discipline party with progressive minds, who believe in one ideology and political philosophy.
