Rangers Fc Of Enugu Emerge Winner Of 2021 Aiteo Cup
Featured, Latest Headlines, Sports News Tuesday, June 15th, 2021(AFRICAN EXAMINER) – Rangers International FC of Enugu on Monday beat Ingas FC of New Layout 1-0 to emerge winner of the 2021 Enugu State Aiteo Federation cup.
The Flying Antelopes defeated the Enugu Amateur club side in the final match of the competition played inside the main bowl of the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu.
African Examiner Sports reports that Rangers Striker, Chiamaka Madu scored the only goal for Rangers FC via a penalty shoot-out..
The Aiteo cup competition in the state started on June 10 with eight teams and ended on June 14.
With the result, Rangers FC retained the right of representing the state at the national level.
Speaking with Sports Writers at the end of the game, Rangers FC Team Manager, Barrister Amobi Ezeaku, praised Ingas FC players for their fighting spirit.
“Though we won, but Ingas FC gave us fight for their money and thank God for the victory.
According to him, the match was a game of intensity, adding that any team facing Rangers FC in the state always come out with all it’s Arsenal.
Ezeaku said that the move that resulted to the penalty kick was the ice on the cake in the match.
The Team Manager stressed that the match Referees displayed competency by awarding the penalty, pointing out that it was a non- refutable one.
He however, promised the club supporters that Rangers will replicate its performance of 2018 which gave them the trophy in expense of Kano Pillars in Asaba, the Delta State capital.
“We are going to do our best to reach this season Aiteo cup final and probably, lift the trophy.
Also speaking, Enugu State FA chairman, Barrister Tony Ugwu said the competition leaved up to its billing and congratulated the winner, Rangers FC.
According to him, “the organisation of the competition was perfect and the teams deserved commendation because of the short notice from the Nigeria Football Federation NFF.
“We decided to play the competition to give all the teams equal opportunity and not going into round table to pick the state representative.
“The most important of this competition was that, we have produced the state representative within the authorised stipulated time.
