“Probe N300 Billion Sure-P Allocation To States, LGs”
Featured, Latest Headlines, News Monday, June 15th, 2015Ayodele Afolabi, Abuja – A member of the Board of the Subsidy Reinvestment Programme (Sure-P) has asked the Economic and Financial Crime Commission, EFCC to probe the 36 States to recover over N300 Billion sure-P money allocated to them between 2012 and 2014.
Okogwu who gave the charge in an interview aired on AIT on Monday said that the States and Local Governments got 54 percent of the total fund accruing to Sure-P.
He lamented that despite receiving the huge fund, the States and the Local Governments have nothing concrete on ground to show for it adding that no local governments in Nigeria has received less than N320 million as its own share of sure-p fund within two years.
Okongwu noted that there are concrete things the Federal Government has done with its own share of the fund especially in the areas of critical infrastructure even as he wondered why states are unable to pay workers’ salaries despite receiving huge Sure-p.
