African Examiner reports that the invasion is coming barely 48 hours that a federal High court sitting in Abuja quashed a suit brought before it by senator Eze, asking the court to declare him the authentic PDP governorship candidate in Enugu state.
The miscreants, started shooting sporadically immediately they arrived the palatial home.
An eyewitness, who is also gateman of the mansion, identified as Mr Hassan Hamuo from Yola told the Newsmen on Wednesday that he was at the gate around 5.20 pm on Tuesday when two vehicles with about 10 boys suddenly stopped at the front of the house and started shooting sporadically on air.
Hamuo said as they were shooting they were chanting Sen Ayogu Eze has failed in court; he is now a dead man.
“I did not challenge them so that they will not kill me.
“They continue to shoot on air and dance on the gate of my Oga house” adding that though, they did not shoot anybody, but their noise attracted relations of Eze and other concerned members of the village that called the police”
“When they saw police coming they abandoned their two vehicles and ran away.
“But police arrested one of them and carried the abandoned vehicles to their station in Igboeze-North,’the gate man said.
A close relation of senator Eze, Mr. Okechukwu Eze, corroborated the gate man’s account of the incident, saying the political thugs numbering about ten arrived at about 5.20 pm
He alleged that the thugs were those who were celebrating the Enugu state PDP guber candidate, Mr ifeanyi Ugwuanyi’s victory on Monday at Federal High Court Abuja.
“If not the quick intervention of police and youths from the village the thugs could have started destroying my brother’s house and property.
Eze said it was as a result of that incident that youths numbering about eighty from the village kept night vigil at Sen Eze’ compound in case the hoodlums will come again.
Effort to get comment from Mr Fidelis Agbo, the Divisional Police office, DPO of Igboze- North Divisional Police Station was unsuccessful as he was said to have travelled to Enugu for an official assignment.
Also attempt to speak with the state police public Relations officer, PPRO Mr Ebere Amarizu, failed, as he did not answer calls put across to across to his personal mobile phone.
However, a police officer from the Igbo Eze North station who craved anonymity, confirmed the incident but declined to give detailed information on the arrested political thugs.
Rather, he said investigation had commenced on the matter.
“Yes some armed political thugs went to Eze’s residence at Inere Umuiyida on Tuesday but police is investigating the matter, that’s the much I can tell you for now, “he said
