Police Rescue Businesswoman Abandoned By Kidnappers In Aba

Security operatives from the Anti Robbery unit of the Aba Area command of the Nigerian police, Abia state, on Saturday came to the rescue of a businesswoman, Ebere Amarachukwu from her abductors.
Our correspondent gathered that the police team rescued the woman in a village at Obingwa local government area of the state, where she was abandoned by the kidnappers, who fled the area immediately they dropped her for fear of uncertainty.
The security men had been trailing the kidnappers in the past few weeks when the abduction was reported.
Narrating the incident to Newsmen, a close associate of the victim disclosed that “she was abducted at a village near International Glass Industries Limited, Aba few weeks ago, as she went to inspect the progress of work at a building project”.
The source hinted that the three kidnappers stormed the project site soon after the woman arrived, held everyone hostage after which they forced her into her car and sped off.
African Examiner learnt that the workers at the site immediately reported the incident to the Ohuru Isimmiri Police Division.
According to the source, the victim’s Honda SUV vehicle which was recovered the next day was later taken to Eastern Ngwa Police Division.
The state Police public Relations Officer (PPRO), Geoffrey Ogbonna, an Assistant Superintendent of Police ASP, who confirmed the release of the victim, said efforts are on by the police to track down the criminals.
