Police Rescue 9-Month-Old Baby Dumped in Ebonyi
African News, Featured, Latest Headlines, News, News Across Nigeria, News From The State Sunday, August 29th, 2021(AFRICAN EXAMNINER) – The police in Ebonyi State have stated that it has recovered an abandoned nine (9) months baby girl dumped in Ezzillo warring community riverside.
The police command led by CP. Aliyu Garba disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday.
According to Garba, the police will collaborate with Ebonyi State government and non-governmental organizations to fight the rising scourge of dumping babies in refuse or Riverside areas in the State.
The police chief frowned at the rising inhuman treatment meted on girl child and children in some parts of the state, and he enjoined parents to instruct their children to shun all forms of social vices in the state.
He said: “The Ebonyi State Police Command rescued a nine-month-old female child that was abandoned at Ebonyi Riverside-Ezzillo Community in Ishielu LGA of Ebonyi State.
“The baby was sighted by a farmer who alerted the Police Operatives attached to Ishielu of the Command before she was rescued and handed over to the gender unit of the State Police Command.
“The Commissioner of Police Ebonyi State Command, CP Aliyu Garba, has directed that the baby be accorded proper medical attention and taken to a government facility for custody and proper care.
“The commissioner assures the general public that the Command will continue to collaborate with all the relevant Government agencies and non-Government bodies in fighting against this inhuman act and other social vices in Ebonyi State.”
