Police Nab PVC, INEC Voter Register Racketeer In Delta
Latest Headlines, News, Nigeria 2015 Election Friday, February 20th, 2015FROM IGNATIUS OKPARA, Asaba – Delta state police Command, says it has apprehended four persons for allegedly making away with 6,000 Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) and voter registers at INEC office in Oghara, Ethiope West local government area of the state.
The state Police public Relations officer, PPRO Mrs. Celestina Kalu, who made this known to newsmen in Asaba Thursday, said the police received a report that some unidentified gunmen broke into the commission’s office at Oghara and reportedly made away with the cards.
Based on the report, the police arrested the security guards suspected to have aided the unholy act, for interrogation.
The follow-up investigation, according to the state police spokesperson, led to the arrest of one Oghara native and the recovery of one of the stolen INEC registers.
She disclosed that the stolen PVCs have been recovered, and it totaled into 7,365 instead of the reported 6000.
The PPRO however, warned those engaging in such and other manner of nefarious conduct in the state to better desist from it, or be ready to face the music when nabbed by the law environment agents.
