Police Nab Notorious Female Child Traffickers
Latest Headlines, News Saturday, April 26th, 2014Three female suspects who specialises in stealing and trafficking of children from Anambra state to other parts of Nigeria on Friday met their waterloo, as they were arrested by the police in Okpoko, Onitsha.
Those arrested includes Mrs. Ogochukwu Nwapka, Christina Egbo, and Angelina Opeke.
They were picked up by the police attached to Okpoko Division in Ogbaru Local Government Area of the state.
The suspects who are now assisting the Anti-trafficking section at the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID Awka, according to police sources, will soon be charged to court.
Our correspondent gathered that the Anambra State Ministry of Women Affairs through the Child Development unit has already stepped into the matter with a view to making sure that the suspects faces the full weight of the law
In a similar development, police detectives from same Okpoko Police Division have intercepted and recovered military AK 47 rifle with 12 live ammunitions from a man conveying them with a sack bag to an unknown destination.
African Examiner learnt that the security operatives nabbed the middle age man suspected to be the leader of a robbery gang on Friday during their routine patrol of streets and flash points in Onitsha.
When contacted for reaction, the Divisional Police Officer DPO, in charge of Okpoko Police Division, Emeka Ugwu confirmed the incidents, saying that the suspected child traffickers have been transferred to the SCID Awka.
