Police Kill 2 Deadly Armed Robbery Kingpins In Enugu


From Ignatius Okpara, Enugu – Police operatives in Udi local government Area of Enugu state in collaboration with Neighbourhood watch members in the community have shot dead two deadly armed robbery kingpin that have been making life unbearable for residents of the locality and environs.

The hoodlums met their waterloo during a routine surveillance and patrol of the community by the security operatives.

The Enugu state police public Relations officer PPRO, Ebere Amarizu, disclosed this to African Examiner correspondent on monday in Enugu.

He said, “they shot dead two notorious armed robbery kingpin that have been terrorizing the lives of the commuters passing through Udi/ozalla road, while other members of the gang believed to have been touched by the operatives bullet fled with injuries.

“The two deceased and yet to be identified notorious armed robbery kingpin met their waterloo as they attempted to rob a commercial bus loaded with some passengers.”

According to the PPRO, because of the nefarious activities of hoodlums, the operatives have constantly kept the road under strict surveillance.

Recovered from the deceased hoodlums includes one pump action gun with seven live cartridges, two daggers, one long matchet, four nokia phones, assorted charms and some undisclosed sum of money.

The dead bodies of the robbers according to him have been deposited at a nearby hospital mortuary, just as continued search for the fleeing members of the gang have been intensified. Amarizu said.

In a related development, operatives of the No 3 police mobile force of the state command on stop and search duty at Ozalla point along Enugu /port Harcourt expressway have nabbed a suspect identified as one peter Igwe of Amechi Awkunanaw, Enugu south council Area.

He allegedly stole one Chevrolet express bus with registration number ENU 815 JW from where it was parked at Okpara Square axis Enugu state in the early hours of 20/12/14.

The suspect Amarizu hinted, was picked following a tip off received in that regard by the operatives.

He said a full scale investigations have commenced into the incident, as the suspect is now helping the police with relevant information.
