Lagos state police have declared wanted one Abiodun Imole for his alleged involvement in human trafficking. Before absconding, Imole was the manager of Francis Inn Hotel, in Ikotun area of Lagos State.
In a statement, the police said Abiodun, the manager of the Hotel located at Olu Odunusi Street, off Abiola Adeyemi Street, off Governor’s road, Ikotun, absconded after two women charged with human trafficking were arrested at the hotel.
Mrs. Grace Onye, a 52-year old Onitsha-based businesswoman, confessed that she used the hotel as a place of operation whenever she came to Lagos to buy babies for sale to those who want them.
She revealed that the fleeing hotel manager was also aware of the illegal act being carried out within the hotel premises, adding that one Samuel, who is now at large, is her contact person in the illegal business of buying babies.
She was taking a stolen baby she bought for N300,000 to the motor park for the journey to her home in Onitsha when she was apprehended by residents.
Son of the owner of the hotel identified as Sadiq confirmed that Abiodun fled when he learnt that detectives from the SCID, Panti, Yaba, Lagos, visited the hotel to interrogate him over the matter.
Sadiq further said that his father was not aware of the activities of the suspects and had gone to the SCID to exonerate himself of the accusation.
