Police Harp On Need For Robust Synergy With Nigerian Correctional Service In Enugu


(AFRICAN EXAMINER) – The new Commissioner of police Enugu State Command, Mr. Ahmed Amani, has stressed the need for a more robust synergy between his organization and the Nigeria Correctional Service in the state.

He stated this yesterday when he led the management team of the Command on a working visit to the state Controller of Corrections Mr. Nicholas Obiako, at the Headquarters.

The Enugu police boss, who was recently posted to the State said the visit was “to synergies’ with the Correctional Service to improve security and chart new course on how to provide public protection and safety to residents of the State

He added that the Nigerian Correctional Service is a critical stakeholder in the criminal justice system hence, the need for the visits so as to enable him to explore ways of improving what he meant on ground.

Amani, who until his posting was a course participant of National Defense College Abuja commended the Correctional service in Enugu for been a worthy partner of the police and looks forward to better working relationship between both services during his tenure.

Responding the State Controller of Corrections Mr Obiako, who received the Commissioner and his team expressed happiness with the CP for the visit, noting that the relationship between both services has been “an aged long one in history.

He however, assured the Commissioner of his office readiness to always give the Command all the necessary assistance to enable it achieve adequate security of life and property in the state.

A statement made available to African Examiner in Enugu by the State Command of the Correctional Service Spokesman, (ASC), Dympuna Ugwu, said the Controller, pointed out that both services naturally exit to complement each other, and therefore, wished the commissioner a blissful stay in office.

Mr. Obiako, also informed the Commissioner that the Enugu State government under the watch of governor Ifeanyi Lawrence Ugwuanyi, has been very supportive to security agencies in the state.

Highlight of the visit was deliberations on the security architecture of the state.
