Members of the Pro-Biafra group, Biafra Zionists Federation, BZF led by London trained lawyer, Benjamin Onwuka, Thursday launched another attack on the Enugu State Broadcasting Service, ESBS in a failed attempt to make a broadcast.
African Examiner reports that the incident happened at about 6am Thursday morning.
It would be recalled that same group attacked the Government House, Enugu on March 8th this year, holding the seat of power to ransom for almost five hours.
The group, who were led to the state owned television house by Onwuka himself, allegedly killed a police sergeant and wounded another Inspector who were among a four-man police patrol team that rushed to the station to prevent them from entering into the studio .
However, a member of the group was shot dead by the police team who disorganized the plan of the hoodlums said to be over 20 in number.
Mobile policemen armed to the teeth drafted to the place arrived after the BZM members had left.
An eyewitness said two members were later arrested while some people passing by were also arrested for questioning.
According to the eyewitness, Onwuka and many of his men had escaped before the policemen arrived.
African Examiner learnt that Onwuka’s mission to the state television house was to make a live broadcast having declared himself leader of the new Biafran Republic last year, 2013.
