Police Confirms Attack On APC Supporters In Rivers
Latest Headlines, News From The State Tuesday, January 6th, 2015From Ignatius Okpara, Port Harcourt – The Rivers state police command has confirmed Tuesday’s attack on travelling supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC.)
The victims were on their way to Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital, to attend the flag-off of the party’s presidential campaign.
Police public Relations officer, PPRO in the state, Muhammad Ahmad, who confirmed the incident in Port Harcourt, said the unknown gunmen “opened fire on the APC supporters’’.
According to the command spokesman, the supporters were travelling in group from Buguma in Asari-Turu council Area of the state to Port Harcourt for the rally when they were attacked by the hoodlums.
He said the initial report had shown that there were no casualties.
The command, he said, had commenced full investigation into the incident.
He however, assured that the security operatives would definitely get to the root of the attack, with a view to bringing the perpetrators to justice.
