Police Begin Investigation into Shooting, Abduction of Farmers In Enugu

ENUGU, NIGERIA (AFRICAN EXAMINER) – The Enugu State Police command has commenced full investigations into the recent shooting of one Lazarus Amadi, as well as abduction of two farmers from their farmland at Akpakume Nze community in Igboetiti council area of Enugu state by unknown gunmen.
The Command said the investigation was also aimed at finding out the actual cause of the alleged incident, motives, and identities of those behind it, with a view to bringing them to book
The Police in a statement made available to AFRICAN EXAMINER in Enugu by its Spokesman, Ebere Amarizu, said it received a report that “on 20/9/16, a yet to be identified gunman had allegedly shot one Lazarus Amadi, who had gone to farm; injured him, as well as abducted two other farmers.
He said on receiving the information,”The command mobilized and went into the farmland from where the injured Amadi, was rescued and taken to Ogbede Hospital in Igboetiti where he is responding to treatment.
Amarizu stated: “security operatives in partnership with members of the community also mounted intense manhunt with a view to rescuing the alleged abducted two farmers identified as Paul Ugwu and Hycienth Eze”
He added that out of intense pressure by the security operatives with the local communities, the victims were rescued unhurt, and have since reunite with their families.
