Police Arrest Suspect Impersonating Ex-Lagos CP
Latest Headlines, News, News From The State Saturday, August 22nd, 2015By Niyi Adeyi – The Lagos State Police Command Saturday announced the arrest of a suspect who impersonated the State’s former Commissioner of Police (CP), Kayode Aderanti.
The suspect who was identified as Friday Aguibosim was arrested on August 12, after opening a Facebook account in the name of the State ex-CP.
Through the fake account, Aguibosim requested policemen who wished to go on a peace keeping mission to credit a Fidelity Bank account.
Police indicated that the account was traced to the suspect in Ihiala, Anambra State, after which he was arrested.
The suspected fraudster was also said to have an accomplice, named Emmanuel Ekene, who reportedly operated another Fidelity Bank account. Ekene is presently at large.
Aguibosim has denied the allegation, claiming that the dubious transition into his account, was by his cousin, who he identified as Victor Uzogba. He claimed Uzogba requested for his account number with explanation that he was expecting a deposit with excuse that he did not have ATM card to cash the money.
The prime suspect also claimed that it was later he got to know that the transaction was fraudulent.
