Police Arrest Fulani Herdsman Over Alleged kidnapping In Delta
Featured, Latest Headlines, News From The State Sunday, October 11th, 2015The Police in Delta State at the weekend arrested a Fulani herdsman in connection with the kidnapping of a middle-aged man, identified as Celestine Elege, in Ibusa community of the state.
Celestina Kalu, the state police public Relations officer, PPRO, who disclosed this in a statement said that the suspect was nabbed in the bush by a combined team of the police and the local vigilante in the community.
She said:,“On October 8, 2015, one Hon. Patricia Asiana of Okponta quarters, Ibusa reported at the Police Station that her brother, Celestine Elege has been kidnapped.
“According to the report, the victim was kidnapped in his farm at Umuidi, area of Ibusa by suspected Fulani herdsmen.
“On receipt of the report, Police Anti-Robbery patrol team was drafted to the scene and with the help of Ibusa vigilante members, the team combed the surrounding bush and arrested one Ibrahim Shaidu Mohammed, suspected to be one of the kidnappers,”.
The Delta Command image maker, stated that the police had commenced discreet investigation into the incident.
Kalu, added that the police had intensified efforts to rescue the victim unhurt, as well as arrest other fleeing members of the gang.
She however, warned criminal elements in the state to repent, or be ready to face the full weight of the law if apprehended.
