Police Arrest Father, Siblings For Beating Last-Born To Death In Imo
Featured, Latest Headlines, News Across Nigeria, News From The State Friday, September 24th, 2021(AFRICAN EXAMINER) – The police in Imo has confirmed that a family of four in Umuduruihiako Umueze ll in Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of the state ganged up to beat their youngest brother, Chukwuebuka Osundu to death.
African Examiner recalls that a father and two siblings were arrested for reportedly killing and burying their brother in a shallow grave for being stubborn.
The Commissioner of Police, Imo State, CP Hussaini Rabiu, in a statement on Friday stated that the command’s operatives with the support of the community were able to nab two suspects, Lambert Osundu and Racheal Osundu.
According to Rabiu, the suspects are presently undergoing interrogation and have divulged useful statements that will lead to the arrest of the other family members on the run.
He said: “On arrival, the command’s operatives based on intelligence, interrogated one Robert Anyanwu, Chairman of Umuezealagwu Umuduruekwe in Ehime Mbano LGA of Imo State.
“It was revealed that on 14/9/2021 at about 1200 hour, the Osundu family comprising of Lambert Osundu, Ndubuisi Osundu and Rachael Osundu, female, all of Umuduruihiako Umueze ll in Ehime Mbano local government area of Imo State, conspired and beat their youngest brother, Chukwuebuka Osundu “M” aged 20 years to death for yet to be confirmed reason(s).
“After killing him, the father of the deceased with the assistance of Ndubuisi Osundu carried the lifeless body to the back of their compound, dug a shallow grave, and secretly buried the corpse. When the villagers asked the family about their son’s whereabouts, they told them that he has travelled to Ghana to seek greener pastures.”
