Police Arrest 351 Suspects Criminals in One Year in Enugu

The Enugu state police command says it arrested a total of 351 suspects involving in various crimes in the state in 2012.
Adamu Ababakar, the state Commissioner of police disclosed this Friday in Enugu, while reviewing its operation between 2012-2013.
A break down of the cases indicates that 188 suspects were apprehended for armed robbery, 91 for kidnapping, while 37 were arrested over cult related activities.
The command also recorded 20 car-snatching cases, 9 vandalization, 6 burglary suspects amongst others.
Also in the year under review, a total of 90 arms and 417 ammunition were recovered while a total number of 11 kidnap victims were rescued.
His words: “In the area of car theft/snatching, a total number of 115 vehicles were recovered.
“Then in the year 2013 a total of 92 armed robbery suspects were arrested, including 30 kidnap suspects.”
“Eleven people were arrested for cult activities, 15 car snatching suspects, 13 vandals, while 3 burglars and thieves were also apprehended, bringing the number of suspects arrested in 2013 to 164”.
“Then in the area of arms, a total number of 39 arms and 51 ammunitions were recovered while 7 kidnapped victims were rescued without payment of any ransom”.
He disclosed that a total of 18 snatched cars were also recovered.
Adamu, maintained that from the record there was drastic reduction of crime in the year 2013 as most crime were nipped in the bud in line with the tenet of proactive policing strategies which the command adopted.
The commissioner however, assured that the year 2014 would witness a better crime free Enugu state.
