Police Arrest 15 Kidnap Suspects In FCT
Featured, Latest Headlines, News Across Nigeria Friday, April 9th, 2021(AFRICAN EXAMINER) – No fewer than 15 suspected kidnappers have been arrested by Operatives of the FCT Police Command in Abuja.
The men were said to be involved in the attempted abduction of the Vice-Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, Gwagwalada Branch, Mr David Aigbefor.
A senior police operative confirmed to our correspondent on Friday that the suspects were involved in the foiled attack on Aigbefor’s apartment at Tungan Maje during the week.
The armed gang reportedly stormed their victim’s residence in the early hours of Wednesday but Aigbefor fought them off with the help of vigilantes in the community.
The kidnappers reportedly gained access into Aigbefor’s house after smashing the gate and entrance door of the living room with bullets.
In a video clip, the lawyer explained that he engaged the kidnappers for over 30 minutes before the vigilance group and the police showed up.
He said, “I had a running battle with the kidnappers for over 30 minutes. But God delivered me from their hands. I was able to fight them back even though they were wielding dangerous weapons. Using only a machete, I was able to strike and mortally injure one of the kidnappers. As you can see, these are bloodstains on the floor and walls of my living room.”
