PLASIEC Okays January 30th 2014 For LG Polls

After several postponements, the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) has finally fixed 30th, January, 2014, to conduct Local Government elections in the State.
Chairman of the Commission, Peter Dalyop disclosed this while briefing journalists at the headquarters of the Commission in Jos, on Wednesday.
It would be recalled that at a meeting held on the 28th, October, 2013, between PLASIEC and Chairmen of political parties, it was agreed that the Commission should shift the date of elections earlier fixed for 21st, December, 2013, to a suitable date in January or February, 2014.
”The Commission is happy to inform all stakeholders and the public that after due consultations with all stakeholders, we have fixed Local Government Elections in the State to hold on Thursday 30th, January, 2014”. He said,
He assured the citizenry that the commission will conduct credible elections in all the seventeen Councils.
“We have learnt from the success and failure of the recently conducted elections in Anambra State and it will guide us in ensuring that we conduct credible polls in the State.
Dalyop called on the citizenry and stakeholders to give PLASIEC the necessary support to conduct hitch free polls.
