PDP Rejects Presidential Results, Heads To Election Tribunal
Featured, Latest Headlines, Nigeria 2015 Election Wednesday, April 1st, 2015From Ganiyu Nasirudeen – The ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has rejected the Presidential results declared early hours of Wednesday by the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) and threatened it will challenge the outcome at the Election Petition Tribunal.
Indications to this emerged when the party’s agent, Dr. Bello Fadile refused to sign the final result sheet, but the party leader and President Jonathan has Tuesday while the collation of the results was still underway, conceded defeat and congratulated his main rival and winner.
Dr. Fadile who was quoted Tuesday by the INEC Chairman, Professor Jega to have indicated interest to petition the Commission, on alleged electoral flaws, told journalists after the announcement Wednesday midnight, that the PDP was not satisfied with the outcome of the election, thus had since decided to challenge the result at the election Petition Tribunal.
The President- Elect, Gen. Buhari emerged the winner with a total of 15,424,921votes from 21 States, as against outgoing President Jonathan, who polled 12,853,162 votes from 15 States and the FCT, Abuja.
