PDP Puts Legal Team On Standby To Challenge Buhari’s Qualification In Court
Featured, Latest Headlines, News, Nigeria 2015 Election Monday, January 26th, 2015Ayodele Afolabi, Abuja – The last may not have been heard about the controversies trailing the qualifications of the Presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress, Mohammadu Buhari as the Peoples Democratic Party has put its lawyers on the standby to challenge the alleged perjury and forged result.
A highly placed source in the party said that the PDP is only waiting for the judiciary workers to call off their strike so as to proceed to the court for what promises to be mother of all legal battle.
The source said there was no way such serious issue like lying under oath could be swept under the carpet.
“PDP position is that Mohammadu Buhari is not qualified to stand for the February 14 election having failed to provide his secondary school certificate as required by the Electoral Act and the constitution.
“The whole story surrounding his certificate is replete with double speak and absolute falsehood and there is no way such a man could be entrusted with the exalted position of the President of Nigeria.
Buhari’s qualification has been a subject of controversies since he submitted his nomination form to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC and was unable to attach copies of school cert as required by law.
The APC candidate had sworn to and affidavit claiming that copies of his certificates are with the Secretary of the Military Board, a position that has been disclaimed by the military.
His attempt to retrieve copy of his WAEC result from the school have also attracted comments which suggest that the statement of result obtained and published by an online newspaper may not have been genuine.
