ABUJA, NIGERIA (AFRICAN EXAMINER) – The leadership tussle rocking the opposition Peoples Democratic Party PDP) is far from being over, as the security personnel Monday prevented the controversial National Chairman of the party, Ali Modu Sheriff from gaining entrance into the party’s National secretariat in Abuja.
Ahead of the morning mild drama, the former Borno State Governor told journalists that he came to resume duty in his capacity as the National Chairman of the party.
It would be recalled Sheriff was cajoled in the recent opposition non-elective parallel National convention held in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital. The party stalwarts reconvened after its Governors’ meeting at the venue of the Convention after Sheriff had been hoodwinked to announce the cancellation of the exercise.
The non-elective Convention however appointed former Kaduna State Governor, Ahmed Makarfi as the interim PDP National Leader.
Similarly, the Abuja parallel convention appointed former Deputy Senate President, Ibrahim Mantu as the interim National head of the party.
