PDP Dissociates Itself From Congratulatory Message To Sanusi As New Emir of Kano
Featured, Latest Headlines, News Sunday, June 8th, 2014The Peoples’ Democratic party has withdrawn a congratulatory message earlier issue on the newly appointed Emir of Kano Alhaji Lamido Sanusi saying the message was issued in error.
This was made known through a statement issued by the National Publicity Secretary of the party Sunday.
The statement reads:
‘’Our attention has been drawn to an unauthorized statement issued on behalf of the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP by his Special Assistant, Mr. Richard Ihediwa, congratulating the eldest son of the late Emir of Kano, Alhaji Sanusi Lamido Ado Bayero as the new Emir of Kano. The statement reads.
‘’Mr. Ihediwa relied on a false news flash on the AIT and issued a statement in that direction without approval from the National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh. This is completely embarrassing to the National Publicity Secretary and the entire leadership of the PDP.
‘’We hereby dissociate with the statement earlier issued and regret the embarrassment this may have caused the entire nation, the Kano Emirate and the good people of Kano state.”
Meanwhile, reports reaching us indicate that indigenes loyal to Sanusi Ado Bayero, the son of the late Emir of Kano, were responsible for the protests that followed Lamido’s appointment as the new Emir.
An eye witness said another group of protesters, who were marching to the Government House, were stopped by armed soldiers and policemen.
