The South East zonal chapter of the ruling Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) has decried the promoters of Biafra Zionist Federation (BZF), on its attempt to declare the Republic of Biafra recently in Enugu.
Zonal National Vice Chairman of the party, Col. Austin Akobundu (rtd), in a statement made available to newsmen in Enugu, insisted that the sole intention of the group was to paint the south-east in bad light in view of the security challenges currently facing the country.
African Examiner has reported last week effort by BZF members to forcefully invade Enugu State Broadcasting Service, (ESBS) in an attempt to declare the Republic of Biafra, a situation that led to the death of two persons.
PDP zonal leader, said members of the group may not have reflected deeply on the implications of their actions before embarking on such suicidal venture, stressing that their actions were not only embarrassing to Ndigbo at home and in the Diaspora but made them to discover that some rascals in their midst could go to the extreme in order to solicit for a phantom objective.
BZF leader, Ben Igwe Onwuka, who had earlier been declared wanted by the police for the March 7 ESBC invasion has been arrested alongside other 12 suspects as others are still at large.
