The last may not have been heard about the crisis rocking Nigeria’s ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) as an Abuja High Court on Friday barred Alh. Baraje’s led faction from parading self as “new PDP.”
The court presided over by Justice Adefope Okojie also declared that the Bamanga Tukur-led leadership is the recognized and authentic National Working Committee of the party.
Bamanga Tukur led faction had approached the court seeking to restrain Baraje led faction from parading themselves as executive members of the party.
Recall that Alh. Baraje’s faction led by former vice president Atiku Abubakar and seven governors had on August 31st walked out of the eagle’s square, the venue of the PDP Special National Convention to conduct a parallel convention.
At the parallel convention, they accused Alh. Bamanga Tukur, who has the backing of the president, of engaging in repression and arbitrary suspension of members without recourse to the constitution of the party.
