PDP Challenges Buhari To Fulfill Campaign Promises On Restructuring
African News, Featured, Latest Headlines, News, News Across Nigeria, News From The State Saturday, January 23rd, 2021(AFRICAN EXAMINER) – The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has asked the leaders of the All Progressive Congress (APC) to talk to prevail on President Muhammadu Buhari to fulfil his 2015 campaign promises on restructuring.
The PDP is challenging the APC after the spokesperson of the senate, Senator Ajibola Basiru, stated that restructuring as promised by the APC was only a “slogan”.
A statement signed by Kola Ologbondiyan, the PDP National Publicity Secretary, tasked the APC Caretaker Chairman, Governor Mai Mala Buni, National Leader, Bola Tinubu, Governors Nasir el-Rufai and Kayode Fayemi, Ministers Rotimi Amaechi and Lai Mohammed to speak out on the issue.
The PDP stated that the APC’s inaction concerning restructuring after it was promised by President Buhari indicated that the party only wanted power in 2015.
The opposition party highlighted that it was disappointing that for almost six years, the Buhari presidency has made no concrete effort concerning restructuring.
It said: “Our party asserts that beside President Buhari, other bigger culprits of the failure on restructuring are the silent leaders of the APC who, despite promising restructuring, are clandestinely supportive of its huge betrayal.
“We are already aware of plots by certain APC leaders to recourse to condemning President Buhari as being singularly responsible for the failures of his administration and use such a narrative to beguile Nigerians again with another round of fake promises on restructuring.”
