PDP BOT, National EXCO, Governors Endorse Jonathan For Second Term
Featured, Latest Headlines Thursday, September 18th, 2014Treading the same way of its Governors’ Forum, the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees (BOT) Thursday gave its nod to the incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan’s second term ambition as well as the party’s only flagbearer in the next year general elections.
The body headed by the former Chairman of the Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA), Chief Tony Anenih has also approved the party’s timetable and guidelines primaries.
PDP Governors Forum Wednesday pronounced its endorsement and support for President Jonathan’s second term ambition. Its Chairman and Akwa Ibom state Governor, Godswill Akpabio announced after the Forum’s meeting in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
Akpabio urged Nigerians to support present administration in fight against the insurgency in the country.
Meanwhile, the National Executive Committee (EXCO) of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has adopted incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan as its sole Presidential candidate for the next year election.
This decision was arrived at the EXCO meeting Thursday, presided over by the PDP National Chairman, Adamu Mua’zu and members of the National Working Committee.
Vice President, Namadi Sambo, Senate President, David Mark; his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu and the Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha were also in attendance at the meeting.
Most of the ruling party Governors who met yesterday in FCT also attended the critical meeting.
AFRICAN EXAMINER Correspondent gathered that members of the executive hinged their decision on the claimed massive support and endorsement Jonathan has received from the various support groups as well as from the First National Summit of Goodluck Support Groups held at Eagle Square, Abuja on Tuesday.
