Osun Students Protest in Osogbo Over Strike

The students of four Osun state owned tertiary institutions on Thursday stormed Osogbo to protest against their continue stay at home due to strike action by Academic and Non-Academic staff in their various institutions.
The protesting students visited National Television Authority (NTA), Osogbo to hear their grievances.
Students Union President, Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, Adetunji Oluwaseyi Philips while addressing the press urged government and striking higher institutions staff to resolve their difference in the interest of the students.
Adetunji disclosed that students will begin full protest next week by blocking all the major roads if meeting between government and striking workers schedule for next week does not yield positive result.
“We will start real protest next week if their next meeting (government and workers union) scheduled for next week does not bring a positive result. They should expect the entire students of osun owned tertiary institutions at Osogbo for a 3-days real protest.” He warned.
The four affected institutions; Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, Osun State College of Technology, Esa Oke, Osun state College of Education, Ila Orangun and Ilesa have been on strike since February 17, 2014.
