The crisis rocking Ogun State chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) took a new dimension on Wednesday as former Ogun State Governor, Aremo Segun Osoba and his followers dumped APC for Social Democratic Party (SDP).
AFRICAN EXAMINER gathered that Ogun State deputy; Segun Adesegun, three Ogun Senators; Adegbenga Kaka, Gbenga Obadara and Akin Odunsi, who represent Ogun East, Ogun Central and Ogun West respectively, six House of Representatives members from Ogun state including Osoba’s son, Olumide Osoba and supporters of former governor joined SDP ahead of 2015 general elections.
Other members of the House of Representatives are Kunle Adeyemi, Babatunde Olabode, Abiodun Abudu, Odeleye Kehinde and Bukunola Buraimo.
Chief Segun Osoba accused Governor Ibikunle Amosun of hijacking party structure and sideline him from party affairs.
It would be recalled that Amosun’s faction cleared all party’s position during state congress, thereby putting Osoba’s group seeking second ticket in office at risk.
A source informed our correspondent that Osoba led his group to SDP to protect their interests.
“Chief Olusegun Osoba is a grassroots politician. He understands the game, there is no need for wasting time in APC again. Governor Ibikunle Amosun has hijacked party structure, it will be difficult for majority of Osoba’s followers seeking second term to get APC ticket.
“The best thing is to get alternative platform to test their popularity. Amosun’s greed would cost him re-election”. the source said
