Opeyemi Bamidele, Ex-Speaker, Others Declare For APC As Huge Crowd Storm Buhari’s Rally In Ekiti
Featured, Latest Headlines, Nigeria 2015 Election Saturday, January 24th, 2015From Funmilayo Omidji – Former Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Governorship candidate under the Labour Party (LP) in Ekiti State Opeyemi Bamidele and some members of the State ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), have dumped their parties and declared for the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC).
The leading APC Chieftain and former Lagos State Governor, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu made this known at APC rally Saturday, in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital.
Tinubu disclosed that Bamidele has been forgiven by the party member and leaders.
Recall Hon. Bamidele who is currently a member of the House of Representatives defected from the defunct Action Congress Of Nigeria (ACN), fell out with the former State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi and party leaders last year due to some political differences.
All efforts by the national leaders to mediate in the crisis proved abortive, a development that later led to his defection to LP to contest the Saturday, June 21, 2014 State governorship election, lost by him and former Governor Fayemi.
Similarly, former Ekiti state House of Assembly Speaker, Hon Ajibola and some PDP Members dumped the ruling party and crossed to the APC.
Meanwhile, a huge crowd welcomed General Buhari’s campaign train to ekiti state despite Fayose’s threat to organize a parallel rally for PDP to undermine the APC rally.
The capital city, Ado Ekiti was shutdown for several hour as youths, artisans, and Okada riders shouted “sai Buhari” as they walked several miles to attend the APC rally.
In his speech, General Buhari vowed to flush out corruption, unemployment and Insecurity when elected next month.
His words: “It is time to send PDP packing; we will make sure that unemployment is tackled. We will take care of our youth, majority of whom are unemployed.”
