Ondo Residents Groan Over Mimiko’s Corruption, Workers Unpaid Salaries
Latest Headlines, News Wednesday, November 19th, 2014FOLLOWING the non- payment of their salaries and allowances for over four months, aggrieved Ondo State workers, in South-West, Nigeria have said that the re-election of Gov. Olusegun Mimiko was a huge mistake and regrettable.
Authoritative sources confirmed to Global Village Extra that most of the state workers are groaning over the non-payment of their salaries and allowances running into several billions of naira.
Checks by GVE have revealed that the governor, who is serving out his second term in office has not done “anything” for the state since his re-election.
“Mimiko’s strategy is to pitch his tent with President Jonathan so that he won’t get probed after leaving office.
“Governor Mimiko will go down in the history of this state as one of the worst governors Ondo state has ever had. He cannot claim that the federal government have not released the state’s federal allocation, yet the governor has not paid staff salaries for the past four months.” lamented a worker who didn’t want his name disclosed for security reasons.
A few of the workers who spoke to this newspaper on the condition of anonymity want the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) to investigate the state government’s delay in the payment of their salaries and allowance.
It is also revealed that the wife of the governor, Olukemi Mimiko, owns a multi-million dollar store in Dubai, UAE.
The Dubai Mall, with about 635 retailers, is the world’s largest-ever mall in retail history. “All they now do is siphon and loot the state’s money for their own personal use.”
Most Staff, now demoralized, are complaining bitterly that the governor with active connivance of some in his cabinet is fond of settling payment for contractors identified as cronies and relations of governor.
After the governor must have paid his own people, the left over will be scavenged by bootlickers and apologists in the system.
Investigation by this medium have revealed that Ondo State is now ten feet down as a result of inept leadership, and kleptomaniac management style.
