Ondo 2016: Makarfi PDP Hails New Appeal Panel On Jegede’s Substitution

ONDO, NIGERIA (AFRICAN EXAMINER) – As Ahmed Makarfi-led faction of the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) announced its confidence in the new appeal panel to hear the petition filed by it against the recent substitution of Mr. Eyitayo Jegede with Mr. Jimoh Ibrahim, by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), for Ondo gubernatorial election, Governor Olusegun Mimiko has lost two of his appointees to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Governor Mimiko’s Special Assistant on Political Matters, Mrs. Aderonke Morolayo and her counterpart on Mobilization, Mr. Victor Ojo Wednesday announced their resignation in letters they addressed to the outgoing Governor.
The duo also stated in their letters the resolve to dump the PDP and join APC.
The Ondo State APC’s Publicity Secretary, Mr. Abayomi Adesanya, in a statement he issued Wednesday, welcomed Morolayo and Ojo to the party.
On the new appeal panel constituted by the President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa, the Ondo State PDP Publicist Mr. Banji Okunomo, said the Makarfi’s faction was hopeful in the new three-man panel, while insisted that the faction’s Governorship candidate, Mr. Jegede remained the authentic candidate of the party for Saturday, November 26, 2016.
