The cold war brewing between the Super Eagles Chief Coach, Sunday Oliseh and team’s Captain and Goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama late Tuesday got worsen and took a serious dimension, as the senior team’s trainer replaced Enyeama with the Striker, Ahmed Musa.
The Long-serving former Eagles captain was expected at the Eagles’ camp Monday, but could not until Tuesday. Enyeama recently lost his mother and the burial ceremony held last weekend, in Akwa Ibom, South South Nigeria.
Infuriated with the action he considered an evidence of insubordination, Oliseh at the team’s meeting Tuesday night after dinner, announced his estranged team member’s relegation and immediate replacement with a younger colleague, Musa as the new team’s Leader.
Meanwhile, the former Captain has taken to his Instagram account (vinny2908), expressing his displeasure and anger over the Coach’s perceived disdain and insult to him.
Enyeama declared he would take anything but not insult to his mother.
“After 13 years of national service, having this smiles on my face and this passion in my heart…through the billows, the waves of the ocean, the tears of defeat, the sound of rejoicing from victory chants. Now the thought of being stripped naked and security agents throwing me out breaks me completely. I will take anything but not insult to my dead mother” maintained the utility goalkeeper.
As the situation stands now, the newly crown Super Eagles Captain is expected to lead the squad in their two friendlies against Democratic Republic of Congo Thursday and Sunday.
It is not certain whether Oliseh, given the unfolding differences will feature Enyeama in the approaching matches, or if, he will be willing to play.
