Okorocha Declares Free Medicare For Pregnant Women

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo state has announced free medical services for all pregnant women in the State as a demonstration of his love for the people, specially women and children.
He made this known Monday while addressing a large crowd of Imo people who came to welcome and show solidarity to him after his recent return from United States of America where he had gone to spend two weeks holidays.
Governor Okorocha who assured that his administration will continue to provide more dividends of democracy to the people of the state, vowed to complete and commission all on-going projects initiated by his Rescue Mission administration.
The All Progressive Congress APC governor’s forum chairman had stressed the importance his administration attaches to health sector, saying that all the 27 New General Hospitals in across the state and the Kidney Diagnostic Centre will be completed and fully equipped to serve patients in the state.
He said, “This year, more children will go to school, our free education programme will continue, and the 27 new General Hospitals will begin to admit patients.”
The Governor, noted that within two years of his administration, Orlu and Okigwe have been transformed to modern cities while more new cities of Orieubi, Amaraku, Anara, Akah, Akokwa, among others are being developed in an effort to make Imo a one-city-state.
On political developments in Nigeria, Okorocha urged Imolites and the Igbo race to embrace the All Progressives Congress as the only party that has a better interest of Ndi-Igbo.
He regretted that the South-East zone is not represented in the recent changes of the Security Service Chiefs, and therefore appealed to the presidency not lose sight of the position of the South-East in the nation.
Governor Okorocha described the sack of the AGPA chairman, Chief Victor Umeh and the resignation of PDP Chairman, Dr. Bamanga Tukur as healthy for democracy in Nigeria.
To this end, he stated that democracy is all about fielding the most competent persons, “Those who ought not to lead the party must not lead the party”, he declared.
He further said that APC governors have taken a decision to further entrench unity in the party especially in states where there are misunderstandings among stakeholders.
The Governor, stated that APC is at present dealing with more topical national issues and assured Imo People that he will in due course declare his intention on which elective position to run come 2015.
Meanwhile the governor has commenced the commissioning of the over 1,000 projects across the State beginning with the 1.3km New Market Ring Road Owerri.
His administration according to him, undertook the construction of the Ring Road within the market with a view to improving the socio-economic life of the traders and also to fulfill his election campaign promises to the people.
