ABUJA, NIGERIA (AFRICAN EXAMINER) – Senate has passed a resolution urging President Muhammadu Buhari to appoint a minister from Kogi state to replace the late James Ocholi who died in a motor accident along the Abuja- Kaduna highway early this year.
Recall that the late minister of state for Labour and Employment, James Ocholi (SAN), died with his wife and son while on transit along Kaduna – Abuja road, in March this year thereby leaving Kogi without a Minister in the federal cabinet for the past 9 months.
The resolution was sequel to a motion moved by senator, Dino Melaye (APC Kogi West) on the need to appoint a minister from kogi state into the Federal cabinet to represent the interest of the people of the state.
Senator Melaye came under order 43 of the senate rules to draw the attention of the senate to the non replacement of late Ocholi who represented Kogi state at the Federal Executive Council (FEC).
He lamented over the continued delay by President Mohammadu Buhari to replace the deceased minister and the slot of the state, describing the delay as unacceptable to the Kogi people.
