Obaseki Sworn-in As the New Edo Governor
Latest Headlines, News Across Nigeria, News From The State Saturday, November 12th, 2016EDO, NIGERIA (AFRICAN EXAMINER) – Mr. Godwin Obaseki has been sworn in as the new Edo State Governor.
The colorful and well-attended inauguration was administered around 12.20pm Saturday by the State chief Judge, Justice Cromwell Idahosa.
Obaseki’s oath of office was followed by his Deputy Mr. Philip Shuaibu.
Former Head of State, Gen Yakubu Gowon (retd); frontline industrialist, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, the ruling APC National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, among other top party’s Chieftains, attended the inauguration which held in the main bowl of Sam Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin, the Edo State capital.
The new Governor won the election which held Wednesday, September 18, 2016 and was declared the winner by INEC, the having polled highest valid votes of 319,483 votes to defeat his rival of the opposition PDP candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu who scored a total of 253,173 votes.
