Obaseki Appoints SSG, COS, DPS; Directs PS to Take Charge Of Edo Ministries
Latest Headlines, News Across Nigeria, News From The State Monday, November 14th, 2016EDO, NIGERIA (AFRICAN EXAMINER) – Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki has announced Mr. Osarodion Ogie as the new State’s Secretary to Government (SSG).
Other new appointment announced Monday by the new Governor are: Messrs Taiwo Akerele, as the Chief of Staff (COS) and John Mayaki as his interim Chief Press Secretary (CPS).
Governor Obaseki announced the appointments while addressing the State’s Head of Service and Permanent Secretaries, on his first official working day. The Governor announced that the three political appointees would be sworn-in immediately.
While challenging the State public servants to rise up to their responsibility for maximum productivity, Obaseki assured the public servants under his administration, would build a strong civil service that would be vibrant, trusted, competent and reliable in spite of the glaring challenges.
Despite his confidence in the civil service capacity, the new Governor maintained that the government must still clear the ‘’clog on the wheel of progress.”
Governor Obaseki stated that there was need to put in place, a system that would support public servants through old age, adding that no government or system could succeed with a weak civil service.
Meanwhile, the Governor has directed all the PS to resume full responsibilities of their respective Ministries until government’s programmes were properly defined.
