NSCIA Begins Moon Sighting Saturday
Latest Headlines, National News, News Thursday, July 24th, 2014The Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) has informed the Nigerian Muslim faithful that its National moon sighting committee would begin the search for the new moon, which signals end of current Ramadan fasting and the beginning of another this Sunday.
In a release by its Secretary – General, Professor Is-haq Oloyede, the new astronomic moon would be born few minutes before midnight on Saturday and it could be sighted in Nigeria on Sunday with optical instruments or with some difficulties with naked eyes.
The Council which apologized to the Muslim Ummah in Nigeria for the unusual confusion that trailed the commencement of the holy month, despite efforts made to avoiding such, informed that once the committee sighted and confirmed the new moon, the nation’s Muslim leader and Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa’adu Abubakar would announce, hence end of fasting and the Salah.
