LAGOS, NIGERIA (AFRICAN EXAMINER) – A Lagos State High Court has fixed Friday, November 10, 2017 to rule for or against fresh charges including murder and illegal sales of firearms filed against the alleged notorious kidnap suspect, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, popularly called Evans.
The counts were filed by the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions DPP.
Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo Friday after hearing two applications filed by the suspect’s Lawyer, Mr. Olukoya Ogungbeje, challenging the competence of the two fresh charges and seeking to quash them announced the next hearing date.
DPP had on Monday attempted to arraign Evans and others on the two fresh charges, but the move was contested by Evans’ lawyer, Mr. Ogungbeje, contending that, the two applications were incompetent, hence, the counter motion to strike out the new applications.
It would be recalled that Evans and his co-defendants were earlier arraigned on August 30, 2017 before Justice Hakeem Oshodi of the Ikeja High Court division over alleged kidnapping in different parts of the country.
