Northern Afenifere Backs Jonathan For Re-Election
Featured, Latest Headlines, Nigeria 2015 Election Friday, February 6th, 2015Agabus Pwanagba, Jos – Ahead of the February 14 presidential polls, Northern states chapter of Afenifere, a Yoruba socio-political organization has thrown its weight behind other groups drumming support for the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan.
In a statement issued after its Executive meeting and made available to AFRICAN EXAMINER ONLINE in Jos the Plateau State Capital and Jointly signed by its chairman Toye Ogunshuyi and Secretary General Tunde Oladapo said, after intensive deliberations and careful review of records and past performances of all Presidential candidates contesting the 2015 election, the group has resolved that President Goodluck Jonathan has “the best credentials, courage, dynamism and ability to rule the country”.
The statement also appealed to those who are in the habit of castigating and propagating falsehood and dirty politics against Reuben Fasheranti to stop forthwith because Afenifere both at home and diaspora have known the truth and shall re-elect Jonathan/Sambo come February, 14th, 2015.
Adding that, “Because of the laudable transformation on education, Health agriculture roads as well as promise to implement the resolution of the National Conference towards the upliftment of the nation and security challenges.
The group lamented that some Political gladiators failed to comply with the Abuja pact signed by Presidential candidates at federal and state levels for non violence but rather doing the opposite which negates the principles of enthroning good democracy and advised them to restrain their supporters.
“We call on Independent National Electoral Commission INEC to fortify its strategy and ensure that the on going distribution of Permanent Voters Cards is completed as stipulated on the 8th, February, 2015, other wise suggesting the issue of temporary voters cards be revisited in order not to disenfranchised eligible voters.
“We are pleading with Yourbas planning to relocate from the Northern States to their homes States in the Western zone because of possible violence during or after the elections to have a rethink and be prayerful to God for Peaceful election.
“We call on party leaders to caution youths not to engage in mischief, mudslinging or blackmail that is capable of causing crisis.
