NMA, Mark Parleys Continue As Parties Agree Truce Fruitful
Featured, Latest Headlines, News Thursday, August 21st, 2014The parley between the Senate President, David Mark and leadership of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) to end the over one month Doctors’ nationwide strike continued on Wednesday.
Yesterday’s meeting was continuation of Tuesday’s, which ended later, at Mark’s Abuja residence. Hopefully, the meetings which indications from both sides confirm were positive and seriously addressing the issues involved in the industrial action will continue today.
Mark’s Chief Press Secretary, Paul Mumeh, confirmed the ongoing meeting between Senate President and NMA representatives and expressed hope that the efforts would achieve desirable objective.
Similarly, NMA National President, Dr. Kayode Obembe in a Chart with the newsmen in Abuja confirmed the meeting, admitting that serious issues involved in the strike were being addressed and considered.
He expressed hope that the parley might result to final resolution of the strike, saying the body’s leadership would still consult widely with its members nationwide before reaching final conclusion. He however stated he could not confirm when the strike would be over.
