Nine Escaped Inmates From Nigeria Arrested In Ghana
Featured, Latest Headlines, News Across Nigeria Tuesday, April 20th, 2021(AFRICAN EXAMINER) – Nine inmates reported to have broken out of jail in Nigeria have been arrested on their way to Ghana.
According to MyNewsGH.com, the Ada district police command stated that the force got a tip-off that some Nigerians “believed to be fugitive jailbreakers” were crossing the Volta River into Ada Foah.
Police disclosed that while acting on the tip-off, security operatives moved to the Clinic junction lorry station, where they stopped a sprinter bus and arrested the nine suspects.
The suspects were identified as Emmanuel Obinnah Chiedozie, Steve Eyenuku, Enebeli Lucky, Yommi Usmah, Keli Ekureni, Freedom Yusuf, Obi Onuora, Patrick Chanar, and Bless Eyenuku.
The police stated that the plan of the suspects was to enter Accra through public transport after arriving at Ada Foah.
Items found from them include Nigeria and Ghana currency notes, identity cards, as well as other personal belongings.
The police also disclosed that the suspects will be handed over to the Ghana Immigration Service for further investigation.
The African Examiner had earlier reported that unknown gunmen stormed Imo Correctional center and released the inmates.
