Nigeria’s Military to Investigate Shekau Resurrection Video

Boko Haram Leader Abubakar Shekau

Though Nigeria military claimed it killed the leader of the notorious Boko Haram in a gun battle weeks ago, the sect leader Abubakar Shekau, however, resurrected in a video released on Wednesday claiming he is alive.

In a swift reaction to the claim, the Army Public Relations Unit not only dismissed the claim disclosed that it has commenced a probe into the video before making its final declaration on the issue.

The army in a statement by Its director, Mr. Attahiru Ibrahim said:

“We have heard the claim being made that Abubakar Shekau is ‘alive’; we would study the video clips and after that we would come out with our position.

“The last story about him was that he is dead and if, after many weeks, he claims of being alive, then, we would not rush to react but investigate the claim.

“Terrorists do not die; the only time a terrorist died was when Osama bin Ladin was killed by the American military and they dropped his remains inside the ocean. So, if Shekau that we were told was killed many days ago has resurrected, I don’t know how to react to such a fiction.”
